Is it just me, or do artist statements feel kind of impossible to write?
I never know if I'm saying too much or not articulating my point of view clearly. And the last one I wrote (omg, it might have been in 2020?!) definitely doesn't reflect the evolution of my work since I originally penned it.
That's why I am SO thrilled that the fabulous Anna Camilleri is offering a free, two-part online workshop for artists (working in any medium!) to help with exactly this.
Words for Your Work is designed to help creatives write clear, grounded artist statements and adapt them for different contexts.
The first session is happening tomorrow afternoon, 1 - 3pm ET on Zoom! You can read more and register for the workshops here!
Accessibility Info: ASL will be available (provided by Janine Guinn, Carolyn Carter, and Tracy Hetman), auto captions via Zoom, relaxed space, scheduled break. At this time, we cannot provide CART captioning.
If Google Forms are not accessible for you, please email community@creativeconnector.art for assistance.
This workshop series is presented as part of KIMI — the ReDefine Arts Knowledge Incubator and Mentorship Initiative. KIMI is funded by the Canada Council for the Arts.
