Rebirth of Courage is a solo performance blending Visual Vernacular, physical theatre, voice work, and the symbolic use of a mask.
This multidisciplinary piece explores the lived experiences of a Black Deaf body navigating colonial systems, internalized code-switching, and the psychological weight of assimilation in white standardized society.
The mask becomes a metaphor for survival, erasure, and reclaiming of identity—moving between the roles of colonizer and decolonizer.
Through raw body movement, silence, and shifting voice, Rebirth of Courage challenges audiences to witness the cost of being unheard and the power in reclaiming one’s truth.
