About the Artist

Landon Krentz is a visionary Deaf artist and storyteller specializing in physical theatre, visual vernacular, and the transformative power of animation and visual language. Based in Calgary, Alberta, Landon is dedicated to bridging the gap between Deaf and hearing audiences.

Landon’s extensive body of work includes A World Without Them, a powerful physical theatre piece developed during their residency with Ghost River Theatre, and innovative projects like JESSE: An ASL Opera and the Deaf Artists Retreat. Their adaptation of The Little Prince, reimagines the classic tale through the lens of physical theatre, visual vernacular, and sign language poetry.

With a commitment to artistic growth, Landon has sought training and mentorship internationally, including workshops in Sweden at Riksteatern Crea (Swedish Deaf Theatre), Finland, and France at the International Visual Theatre School in Paris.

Collaborations with organizations such as Ghost River Theatre, Aeriosa Dance Society, and Theatre Passe Muraille have solidified their impact in creating accessible and inclusive artistic experiences.

Landon’s artistic vision is rooted in their personal experiences, including overcoming barriers as a Deaf individual navigating mainstream education and artistic spaces. Their dream is to establish a Deaf-led arts centre, fostering a space for the next generation of Deaf artists to thrive.

When not devising new projects, Landon enjoys camping, exploring their animation journey, and dreaming of creating an artist retreat that blends natural beauty with creative innovation.
