> When I told my Deaf ex-boyfriend that I wanted to work in sound, he was like, “That’s the stupidest thing I’ve ever heard.” But it didn’t make me feel bad at all. It was like, “If you’re reacting so strongly to this, it means it’s the right path for me to take.”

Dearest Alexia, thank you for sending me this lastest episode of Friends & Strangers which highlights the work of Deaf artist, Christine Sun Kim. Christine has been one of my favorite contemporary artists for a while now.

Dearest reader, if you have 13 minutes to spare, I encourage you to check out this short segment on Christine talking about her work and the influence the pandemic and having a family has had on her conceptual practice. You can also read the latest [feature on Christine](https://www.artbasel.com/stories/how-i-became-an-artist--christine-sun-kim?ref=creativeconnector.art) on artbasel.com.
